I received my first Sample Society shipment this week. What is Sample Society, you ask? It’s a brand new monthly beauty sampler service. What made this service stand out to me was the fact that it’s partnered with Allure Magazine. With Allure’s name on the line, I expect some stellar products to be inside these boxes. It’s the most expensive monthly subscription I belong to at $15 per month, but if the products are worth it, I’ll be happy. March was the launch of the service and membership is currently wait-listed.
My box included:
- Fekkai Advanced Brilliant Glossing Cream
- Dermalogica Daily Microfaliant
- Skyn Icelandic Eye Relief Pen (full size)
- Ren Glycolactic Skin Renewal Peel Mask
- Oscar de la Renta Espirt d’ Oscar
First impression? LARGE samples!!! Now this is what I call deluxe size. Every single item was large enough for multiple uses. The Skyne Eye Pen is full size and retails for $20. They also include a great little booklet that tells you all about each sample and how to use it.
Now, even though I was impressed with the sizes, I wasn’t overly thrilled with the actual products. They weren’t BAD by any means, but they weren’t mind blowing either. I was expecting something a little more fun since this was Sample Society’s premier box. I was disappointed that there were no makeup samples whatsoever. Skin stuff is nice, but I am personally more interested in makeup samples.
The Fekkai Glossing Cream I’ve tried before and didn’t care for. But my friend really loves it so she was happy to get this :) I received the same exact Dermalogica sample in my February Birchbox. I also have about 5 packets of the REN mask that I’ve gotten from random Sephora orders. So seeings those two samples was a little underwhelming. The perfume is a good size for being a sample, but the scent kinda reminds me of an old church lady lol. I love the Skyn Eye Pen because it gives a tingly cooling sensation to the eye area, and I LOVE eye creams like that. This sample alone made the box worth it for me.
I’m pretty excited to get my next Sample Society shipment. I’m definitely staying subscribed as of now. Hopefully they start sending some makeup!
