MyGlam (or should I say Ipsy… still can’t get used to that) seriously hit it out of the park this month. The October bag was a makeup lover’s wet dream. No sub-par or filler items whatsoever. And the actual bag was the cutest one they’ve designed thus far!
My friend Amber (Fairest of All) has been a “MyGlam Ambassador” pretty much since they launched the company. The ambassador’s give their feedback and ideas to the folks at MyGlam and sometimes they actually come to fruition. That was the case for October’s bag, Amber suggested they do a black/white/red chevron print and she even suggested some of the samples that they included. Huge WOOHOO for Amber and for MyGlam (or Ipsy… shit.)
Here is what I got in my bag:
- The Balm Cosmetics The Body Builder” Mascara
- Mirenesse Lip Bomb Glossy Lacquer #4
- Mirenesse Bombshell Eye Liner
- Coastal Scents Eye Shadow Palette in #2 (not pictured :( I lost it)
The star of the show was definitely the Mirenesse Lip Bomb. Even though the color didn’t suit me well, I am IN LOVE with this product. The application, the pigment, the wear, the shine, everything. The Lip Bombs kind of remind me of OCC Lip Tars because of their minty taste and super pigmented formula. I’m 100% sure I’ll be buying more shades.
The Mirenesse Eye Liner came in at a close second place. New favorite upper lid liner HANDS DOWN. It’s got the precision of a liquid and the rich black color of a gel. You don’t even have to press the pen hard whatsoever onto the skin to get a super black line. And even though the pen is wider than a typical liner, the applicator tip is nice and fine.
I wasn’t crazy about the colors in my Coastal Scents palette, but that’s okay because I freaking lost it. I am such a ditz, I opened my bag in a rush and I probably threw the eye shadow away on accident. I think it was bright yellow and green and some other ugly color so I’m not crying over it lol.
I haven’t had a chance to test out the mascara yet. I am SO picky about mascara and I really like this one from The Balm. My biggest qualm about mascara is if it holds a curl or not. I HATE droopy lashes. This stuff perked my lashes up like super glue all day long and didn’t flake one bit. Didn’t clump either (which surprised me because the bristles looked questionable) and actually gave me nice separation. The only con is that it makes the lashes very stiff so it’s hard to apply multiple layers once the mascara is dry. I’d definitely consider buying the full sizer of this one.
So happy to see MyGlam/Ipsy improving. Hopefully they stay on this track! Go to www.ipsy.com to sign up for your subscription for $10 per month.
