GoGoGirlfriend: Subscriber Beware
9 Feb
This kinda makes me sad. I’ve never dedicated an entire post to complain about a company before. Unfortunately, GoGoGirlfriend is going to be the first.
I originally signed up on September 14th, 2011. My first box was shipped promptly and I was pretty pleased with the items overall. Things fell apart shortly after that. GGG was delaying box shipments by over a month and blaming it on the holidays. Then when the holidays passed, they blamed it on vendors. Several people were complaining on their Facebook wall about being charged and not receiving anything. GGG promptly disabled posts to their Facebook and blocked members who were complaining.
I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I figured they got overwhelmed with new members and things would get back to how they were when I first signed up. Ummm, no. My shipments were still terribly delayed and I was getting blatantly lied to about it. I didn’t want to cancel my membership until I physically received my December box, which didn’t happen until 1/28/12. Once I received it, I wrote them an email requesting cancellation of my membership.
I noticed that I had been charged the $12.99 January membership fee on 1/27/12 (a day before receiving my December box). I sent another email requesting that they refund this charge since I didn’t want a January box. I just wanted to cancel. They refused to refund me. They claim that I was paying for membership to their website and the box of samples was a free perk (LOL, okay).
I’ll copy/paste a few emails so you can get a jist of how amazing their customer service is:
Me: Hello, I’ve decided to cancel my membership and I do not wish to receive a January box. I was just debited $12.99 on 1/27/2012 and I’d like to be issued a refund and have my membership cancelled. Thank you very much.
GGG: Hello Chelsey, we are sorry membership fees are not refundable, we do not charge for the free sample box, it is a perk of the membership. We can cancel your membership today so you won’t be charged again. Thank you.
Me: So what you’re telling me is, even though you’ve sent my past two boxes out nearly two months late, that you can’t extend me the courtesy of refunding a membership fee, which was charged merely three days ago, for a service that has been subpar and continually delinquent with shipments?
GGG: Hello Chelsey, we are sorry membership fees are not refundable, we do not charge for the free sample box, it is a perk of the membership.
Looks like they reallllly needed to hang on to my $12.99. I got fed up and just washed my hands with it. The money wasn’t that big of a deal to me, I won’t cry over $12.99. It was the principle of the matter. They’ve given me poor and delayed service, I figured the least they could do was refund me one month. With service like this, I’m willing to make a $100 bet that they aren’t going to be around by the end of 2012.

Omg!!! That is absolutely horrible of them. I had a membership and cancelled in December. Is there any way to file a complaint? They can’t charge you for a membership. What is their membership? Getting to look at their horrid website??!!? That is so ridiculous I can’t believe they are treating their customers like that. What a shame.
LOL pretty much! It’s such a joke.
Has anyone heard from gogo girlfriend? I am a new subscriber and have sent numerous messages and I am not even getting the automatic reply. I signed up on Jan 27, 2012 as a premium still waiting on my box… has anyone received the February 2012 box?
Well that is disheartening! I’m still waiting on my January box that I was forced to get :/ maybe they will blame their disappearance on another holiday, President’s Day perhaps?

chelsea, thanks for sharing. its seriously unfortunate that companies don’t understand the basics of customer service. if i EVER see a company FB page that doesn’t allow users to post themselves i see it as a major sign of bad customer service. THE POINT of fb and twitter for companies is to connect with their customers and build a bond. i will not subscribe to GGG thanks to you :) I’m happy with my JULEP and my BB.

I totally agree with you on the Facebook/Twitter thing! I’m happy with Julep as well, they’ve been great to me :)
that’s upsetting they made up a policy. to take money thanks for posting i was thinking of signing up guess not
plus looking back at the last boxes kinda going downhill
You’re absolutely right!
Thank you for the info! I’m sorry you had to go through that, but honestly it’s their loss. They should at least have excellent customer service for the lack of quality production they are doing. Thanks to you, I won’t be subscribing to them. :)

EXACTLY. I can deal with late shipments if I’m getting treated in a dignified manner. They need to attend a class on how to a successful business.

Thanks for sharing…I definitely will not join with them. They should be ashamed of themselves. What terrible customer service and sounds like a joke of a company too!
I am so frustrated with GGG! I want to update credit card info but cannot figure out how. I’ve emailed them twice with no response. My January box has not arrived. I doubt I’ll keep subscribing.
Hi,
Just found your blog & <3 it! Will definitely be following!
I sent them a nasty gram asking to cancel my membership. I have yet to hear back other than the automated response. Im going to contact my bank and block them from ever accessing my account. Blah.
I just emailed them again today too. I got their auto-responder but no human reply yet.
Chelsey, I contacted my bank (PNC) and first ordered a stop order? or whatever its called so that if they ever try to charge my card again it will always be denied. They said that it is possible that if they attempt to charge a different amount from 12.99 it may go through. But that I can dispute the charges.
I also asked if I could dispute the December charge since I never got my Jan shipment. And I just had to fill them in one some details (the CS rep was horrified) and she put in an official dispute and credited my account for the Jan box. I already have the money back. And its no longer my problem, but my banks!
I hope you can do the same thing!
That was smart! I will have to give my bank a call and do the same thing. Was there a fee to issue the stop order?
There was no fee for me since I apparently have a premium bank account, but either way it doesn’t hurt to call and try and dispute the other fees. My CS rep was really understanding and sympathetic. And Im pretty sure there is no fee to dispute.
I agree, I canceled my service with them. Then lucky for me I lost my debit card. GoGoGirlfriend then emailed me saying they couldn’t process my payment. So basically they ignored my cancelling and were trying to bill my card. I will stay far away from them!!
OMG they are seriously ridiculous. Losing your debit card actually came in handy for once lol
Oh yeah, and here is the link to someone who had to threaten legal action.

Thanks for the link Talita! I just read her blog entry about it… so sucky to see them screwing over so many ladies.
When I first heard of GGG I thought it was sketchy how they said that the boxes are just a “free” perk for people who pay to use the website. That’s such ass-backwards logic, since obviously know one would PAY to use the site if the box wasn’t a part of it.
So sorry that you’ve had such a terrible time with them, and I thought MyGlam was bad! Thanks for the warning, though.
I am having the exact same issues with them. I signed up around October. It took a while to get my first box but they said they were over whelmed with new members so I over looked it. My next box came right on time so I was pretty pleased with that and had a great sample for an eyeshadow company I am completely addicted to now. BUt that’s when everything got messed up. I still haven’t received my January box. They sent out an email when I questioned them about it saying that I would not be charged for the new month until my January box shipped. So i let it go and let it slide. I noticed around Jan 29th that I had been charged again but hadn’t received a shipping confirmation. But on their web site it says my box was shipped Jan. 27th and I can even review the items I should be receiving. I emailed them. it took then 2 days to get back to me and they told me that I needed to wait a couple days for the email to generate from the warehouse which made no sense but I let it go assuming in a week or so I would get my box and there was just some kind of issue with the tracking email. Well it is now Feb 20th. I still haven’t received me January box, I have been charged for my Feb box, they are not responding to my emails, and there is no other way to contact them. I have requested that they cancel my membership but have no idea if they have or not.
I am so sorry to hear about your troubles. I think we all feel completely scammed by this company. They reply whenever they get around to it and it’s SO irritating. I would suggest contacting your bank like Sarah suggested and getting your money refunded.
IF YOU USED A CC, YOU CAN GET A REFUND AND LET THEM HANDLE IT!
Just got an email from gogo girlfriend stating they will be back on track in March ..apparently they under went new ownership and managment hopefully you girls that are waiting on January shipments will receive your boxes soon. As for me I will wait and see what my Febuary shipment looks like and then decide.
Oh wow, interesting. Sounds like another stall tactic to me. Thanks for sharing Nancy!
I got the same email this morning.
OMG thats insane! I got billed for my first box on Jan. 18 and I still haven’t received my first box! I emailed them a couple of times and they still havent got back to me
I’ve never received a box from them and they debited my account on Jan 18th. I finally got an email last week, after sending them several saying the box was a perk, basically what they said to you. I made a video about it, my you tube user name is amysumrall. I filed a complaint with BBB and I encourage anyone else who is owed a box do the same.
Thanks so much for this review!! Read the beginning of it on subscriptionboxes.com/gogo-girlfriend and from what I hear on there and this review (plus your comments – WOW!), this isn’t the box for me!

I found your site while doing a search for complaints on ggg. I’m so disgusted with the “company” and went in search tonight of ways to make sure others know they are taking money for nothing. If this has happened to you, please go to
http://www.la.bbb.org/business-reviews/Cosmetics-Retail-By-Internet/GoGoGirlfriend-in-San-Clemente-CA-100111849
and file a complaint against this company. They are NOT registered with the BBB but this hopefully this will detour others from giving this joke business $12.99 of their hard earned money.
I’m just so sad that its had to come to this. I gave them two months to make things right. Now I’m going to make them right myself. Good luck to all of you.
Thanks for the link Rhonda!
Did I read this right, over seven weeks since the last shipment, and that one late to begin with? The nightmare continues! I joined in September, canceled in January because I received three boxes and was charged five times. On top of this, the contents got scuzzier and scuzzier each time. My cancellation was handled rudely and I had to cancel my credit card to prevent further charges. This is the worst company I’ve ever dealt with!
Ya i heard this is a really bad box. I read a few reviews on http://www.subscriptionboxes.com/gogo-girlfriend/ and decided not to sign up for this one. good review though. Thanks!
Hi,
I have been reading your blog for a few months!
Your money might not be entirely lost.
Usually you have 3 months or 90 days to do a credit card chargeback for non receipt of items or if the store will not deal with you and sent you a damaged item and you can not contact them.
(that has happened to me before).
I WAS interested in GGG box, but was not too sure after seeing what people were getting.
If I really wanted $1 dollar store items and ELF dollar makeup I can just pick that up myself.
Instead of adding more “box” subscriptions I decided to buy some monthly and quartely samplers where you see a picture of what you might get.
Pleased with those so far.
Anyways good luck with “No No Girlfriend” as one blogger says on a Youtube review.
That has the be one of the funniest expressions to describe their service.
LMAO @ “No No Girlfriend” that is hilarious. I called my bank this morning and they sent me 5 pages of crap that I have to fill out to request the charge dispute :( I hate that I have to waste MORE time on this, but I’m glad I will be able to get my $12.99 back.
I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed they suspended their Facebook page, the one they had been using since last year that was so active, where they were doing their giveaways. There is still a page from July 2011 that had maybe 7 posts as of last Friday, all complaining or asking how to get a refund, including one from me advising people to go to their bank and dispute charges. All posts have been erased as of today. Still up to their scuzzy tricks, I see!
Look what I found!

Nice! I wonder if that’s the new “owner” that just took over.
That toll free number I spent several weeks trying to reach. It was not in service through half of January and the first week of February. In the end I just disputed with my bank and I ended up being credited with one $12.99 payment, which I guess is better than nothing–that horsepucky about paying for a membership and not a sample box rearing its ugly head. But the nightmare that followed! To prevent future debits the bank canceled and reissued the card. I had at that time two other beauty subs, not to mention regular monthly bills and charity gifts, charged to that card. I spent hours of break time calling all these places and getting holds on things or changing payment dates, etc. GGG really messed me up with their scuzzy business practices and I’d so love to see them taken down.
I’m assuming you paid by credit card for this website. Can you call your credit card customer service department and tell them about this? You can tell them you didn’t authorize the charge, item didn’t shipped, etc. and see what your CC company will do.
I did call my bank, Joanna, and disputed charges based on product not received. In the end I was credited one month because I received three boxes in a four month period, even though I was charged five times. I just figured at this point, take the money and run, I wasn’t going to whine and quibble about an extra month. I just wanted the BS over and done with. As a matter of course the bank closed my card to prevent further charges, because they would have charged me $30 for a stop payment fee just like it was a check each month.
When I check GGG on Facebook now, I find absolutely no posts. They once had two pages. They suspended the main one within the past few weeks, and last I knew the other had seven comments, all complaints. I don’t know if they have been deleted, or I have been blocked because one other person and I went on and advised the women to contact their bank and card companies.
Hi ladies I was wondering if any of you had a number for me to call I have been sending emails everyday trying to cancel and I have been ignored a number would be awesome :/
Re canceling GGG what I did since they never replied back to me, I told my bank ( who issues my credit card GGG has). That my card was stolen and I need a new one with new numbers, so when GGG tried to charge me – card was declined…. All I can say is fight fire with fire ;)
I found this on a Google search, so I thought I’d let y’all know that GGG appears to be gone. I signed up when they first started and I saw them on a Facebook sidebar. They were claiming to be offering free MAC eyeshadows with signup. The MAC that they sent me was obvious counterfeit, and pretty lousy countrfeit at that — the fake pencil smelled foul and the eyeshadow came with a little applicator and mirror. Anyone who knows anything about MAC should have known that genuine MAC shadows don’t come with that crap. I emailed them about it and they responded right away and denied having any idea, but later said that they got rid of all the counterfeit and emailed their other subscribers about it. I’m inclined to think that they just got duped by some scam artist claiming to be “wholesaling” MAC, but all the same, it goes to show you how smart and on top of things they were. Good riddance!!!!
