Birchbox! March 2012 (Teen Vogue Edition)

15 Mar

This month Birchbox spiced things up a bit. They gave subscribers an option to either receive their normal Birchbox or opt in to receive a special “Teen Vogue” edition box for March. I decided to see what the Teen Vogue edition had to offer.

Here is what I received:

  • Twistband Hair Ties (orange)
  • Annick Goutal Petite Cherie
  • essie® Luxeffects Nail Polish (Set in Stones)
  • Shiseido Pureness Oil-Control Blotting Papers (10 pack)
  • tarte LipSurgence™ lip tint (Amused)
My dog Helmet wanted to be the photo model :) He seems to be enjoying the samples quite a bit lol.

As usual, I’m pretty pleased with my Birchbox! The nail polish is probably my favorite item. It’s gorgeous! There are different sized chunks of glitter to create a very dimensional look.  I’m also happy with the silver “Set in Stones” shade that I received.

I’m already a fan of the tarte LipSurgence line, and this was a FULL SIZER which retails for $24! Considering my entire Birchbox was only $10, I’d say I got a pretty good bang for my buck. I was hoping to get the shade Lucky, a matte baby pink, but I got the shade Amused which is a translucent, glossy raspberry color. I might go try to exchange it at Ulta. Or if anyone out there is a Birchbox subbie and wants to trade, let me know! :)

I was disappointed with the perfume sample. It was tiny and it smelled like string beans. Bleh.

The Shiseido blotting papers made me exceptionally happy because my face has been an oil slick lately and I’m about to run out of my NYX blotters.

The Twistbands are cute, I love the fluorescent orange color that I received. I actually got a Twistband in another Birchbox of mine several months ago. Now it has a friend!

String beans?! You made me laugh at that. I got a similar box with the same perfume and happen to love it so much I’m thinking of buying it. I wasn’t too impressed when I sniffed it in the bottle but now that it’s on I’m getting whiffs of the classic Herbal Essence shampoo I used to love. I think this month’s Birchbox was a fun one and hope they continue to add makeup to the boxes now and then. Even better if they’re full size!

Haha really? That was my favorite scented shampoo too! The pink bottles… ahh I wish they would bring those back! Maybe I’ll have to apply it because from the vial it totally reminded me of string beans lol.
