Beauty Army Kit! February 2012

17 Feb

This is my first Beauty Army post, however, this is actually the second Beauty Army Kit that I’ve received. I was going to write a double January and February post, but I can’t find the photos of my January kit anywhere! All I have is one photo that I posted to my Facebook page a few weeks ago. Serious blonde moment! lol.

I am adoring this service. I have several boxes to compare (since I’m a bit addicted to monthly beauty boxes if you couldn’t tell) and I think Beauty Army ranks right up there with Birchbox. It’s a tad more expensive at $12 per month, but you get a guaranteed 6 samples. The real kicker? You choose YOUR OWN samples. No surprises or disappointing let downs with Beauty Army.

You take a short quiz about your skin tone and beauty preferences and the website matches you up with 9 personalized samples to choose from. If you don’t like the selection then you can retake the quiz with different answers and get a new set of samples. One feature I hope they implement is to be able to view ALL of the available sample combinations without retaking the quiz (Julep offers this feature and it’s so convenient).

I really enjoy how delightful the Beauty Army staff is to their customers. They chit chat with you on Facebook and Twitter and promptly answer any questions you may have. Aside from fab service and samples, the actual BOXES that your samples get delivered in are gorgeous! They are high quality, durable and super stylish (black with pink cammo, freaking cute!). They remind me of the pencil boxes I used to buy for school, except way cuter. I will definitely be keeping each and every Beauty Army box that I receive since they are perfect for storage and gifting.

Here are the samples I picked for my February kit:

  • Strivectin SD Eye Concentrate
  • Indie Lee Shampoo
  • MyFace Cosmetics Blingtone Eyeshadow
  • LaRocca 24k Exfoliating Cream Cleanser
  • Mama Mio Boob Tube
  • Freeman Beauty Psssst Dry Shampoo

These were all very generous sizes samples. I will get at least 5 washes from the shampoo, dozens of uses from the dry shampoo, boob tube, and eye concentrate. The only sample that will be gone after 2-3 uses is the LaRocca cleanser.

This is how I repurposed my first Beauty Army box :) perfume samples!

And this is the one photo I could find of my January kit (which I loved!)

I’m obsessed with the SunFX self tanner, it’s amaaaazing. And a HUGE sample at that! The LaRocca Lip Gloss was also a big favorite.

I HAVE BEEN CHECKING OUT THESE MONTHLY BEAUTY BOXES.  I WILL NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING WITHOUT TESTING A SAMPLE FIRST, SO THOSE COMPANIES THAT DO NOT OFFER SAMPLES DO NOT GET MY BUSINESS.  I LIKE ORGANIC AND HAVE TRIED TO START USING MORE, HOWEVER I AM OPEN TO OTHER PRODUCTS.  SINCE YOU DO SUBSCRIBE, WHICH IS YOUR FAVORITE AND THE BEST DEAL. FOR EXAMPLE LARGEST AND MOST SAMPLES AT LEAST EXPENSIVE PRICE?

    THANKS,
    ANGEL

I think the Summer’s Secret SunFX sample was the largest. The majority of my Beauty Army samples have been a pretty good size! I recommend either Birchbox (but it’s a gamble as to what you’ll receive) or Beauty Army because you can choose what you’ll get.

I Love Love Love Beauty Army. I also subscribe to Birchbox and Green Grab Bag. Green Grab Bag has all natural & organic products. It’s really fabulous to have these items to sample and then purchase if they work for you. It’s a great idea for sure.

Oh I haven’t heard of Green Grab Bag! I’ll have to check that one out.

What is the Joico K-Pak used for? I got a full size that I won but have no idea how to use it..the instructions on the bottle are so small.

    • Chelsey February 24, 2012 at 8:26 am #

The Joico K-Pak that I received is a conditioning treatment. You leave it on your freshly shampooed, wet hair for several minutes (the longer the better) and rinse.
