Review: Smashbox Bionic Mascara

23 Jan

I recently received a sample size of the new Smashbox Bionic Mascara, which sells for $19 at Smashbox.com. I am a serious mascara junkie, so let’s see what the Bionic does for my sad little lashes.

From the website:
“BIONIC is the first ionic mascara for longer, stronger and more voluminous super-power lashes! The specially engineered no-clump brush gently coats lashes with our revolutionary long-wearing, water-resistant formula for a high impact lash in just one sweep. Aloe, wheat protein, silk and olive oil strengthen and condition. The jet black shade intensifies and defines for ultra-lush, look-at-me lashes. “

Consensus: I think this is a great mascara. I’m not even wearing primer and my lashes look 2x longer. The pigment is nice and black, not too dramatic but still black enough to make your eyes pop. As you can see, the forumla doesn’t clump and my lashes don’t feel hard or brittle. They’re actually quite soft and flexible yet still hold the curl. The wand does a great job of separating and volumizing. My biggest pet peeve in a mascara is when it leaves me with 5 huge lashes because the wand doesn’t seperate. I’m also happy to see that Smashbox formulated this mascara with NO parabens! Yay!

Are you still using this mascara? Does it flake?

No I don’t use this much anymore, but it does not flake at all.
