Burt’s Bees Natural Skin Solutions for Sensitive Skin

26 Oct

Did you know Burt’s Bees recently launched a skincare line geared towards those of us who suffer from extreme sensitivity? Think inflammation, redness, irritation, dryness, stinging, itching, etc. I’m a member of BzzAgent and was chosen to participate in a Burt’s Bees campaign. They sent me two products from this line to try, the Moisturizer and Facial Cleanser.

Left: Moisturizer     Right: Facial Cleanser

I have experienced sensitivity to my skin for as long as I can remember. My face will sting after using certain moisturizers, my cheeks will turn bright red or I will break out from a reaction to stress. I’ve been trying to keep my skincare routine as natural and organic as possible, and this Burt’s Bees line makes it really easy. It’s 99% natural with extracts from cotton,  rice and aloe. There is NO fragrance whatsoever, which took me a little getting used to. It has a scent, but it’s a very natural, raw scent. I am used to perfumey fragrances in my products, which can irritate the skin.

The facial wash is extremelly thick and creamy. It has a soothing effect on the skin because it doesn’t strip with lather. It’s more of a body butter texture that leaves your face feeling soft and smooth once it’s rinsed away. I would suggest removing your makeup with a moist cloth beforehand. This cleanser is too gentle to remove stubborn mascaras and heavy duty foundations.

The moisturizer comes in a short white bottle with a unique lid dispenser. Just press the lid once and the perfect amount of moisturizer is released. This, like the cleanser, has a very creamy texture and no fragrance. As I said before, I really had to get used to the natural scent of these products. I think this moisturizer works wonderfully for my skin when used during the day underneath my makeup. It’s hydrating enough without looking greasy. I didn’t care for it as a PM moisturizer though. My skin, although combination, gets severe dry spots in certain areas unless it gets heavy duty hydration at night.  The Burt’s Bees moisturizer was a little too light-weight for my evening skincare needs.

Overall, I think this is a great line. If you have sensitive or acne-prone skin, give it a try and see if the 99% natural route works for you.

    Chelsey,
I am also testing this out for BzzAgent. Do you find that the cleanser seems to leave a heavy-feeling layer on your skin after you use it? I do, but find that it sort of goes away after using the moisturizer. I’m used to it now, but at first, it made me feel that maybe I should wash my face again! lol! Not that I’m complaining; this stuff is really calming my skin down and, so far, I’m loving it! Just thought that “filmed” feeling was odd.

Hi Sherry! I haven’t experienced a filmy residue using the cleanser, but I’ve been using it with my Olay Pro X (generic Clarisonic) so that might be why. It could be that it’s clinging to your skin and not rinsing off completely. Try rinsing and then taking a wet wash cloth and gently smoothing it over your face to remove any residue, then rinse one more time. it just might do the trick!! :)

Thanks, Chelsey! I’ll try that. I don’t have a Clarisonic. *sadface*
