My Favorite Eyeglasses

29 Feb

A couple weeks ago I updated my Twitter photo (see below)

Since I’ve gotten so many compliments (thank you girls!) and questions about the eyeglasses I’m wearing in the photo, I decided they needed their very own blog post.

These are the Coach Marlie eyeglasses. I bought them back in 2008 during a visit to my eye doctor. I actually called 6 different doctors in my city to see if they sold Coach frames LOL. I can’t believe how many places don’t sell them. I finally found an amazing optometrist office near my house that sells Coach, Chanel, Tiffany’s, Prada, Gucci, Chloe, Burberry… pretty much every high end brand you could imagine. I seriously love going to the eye doctor now LOL.

I’ve been so happy with these Coach frames that I recently had new lenses put in them. I have some sexy Prada frames on my hit list for my next appointment. I was pleasantly surprised that my vision insurance covered most of the cost. At the time I had Avesis Insurance and I think I only paid about $40 out of pocket for my Coach frames, lenses and exam. They also came with an adorable Signature C case which beautifully compliments the inside of my Coach bags :)

If you’re interested in the Marlie frames your best bet will be shopping via google. Coach eyeglasses are being manufactured by a new company as of 2010, so these frames probably won’t be available in your local optometrist office anymore. But as long as you have your prescription, you can probably find a good deal online.

Now let’s talk about my adorable (and free) Bulova glasses. A couple months ago I took advantage of a deal that Coastal.com was having. All new customers got their first pair of glasses for free (I just paid about $10 for shipping and insurance). That included basic lenses, frames and a case. I think they’ve now made this a permanent deal, so if you need some new glasses, use code “firstpairfree” at checkout to get yourself a pair. They shipped very fast and I highly recommend them! You have to choose from their coupon-eligible frames, but they have some really cute ones.

My frames are called the Bulova Lagos Black Pecan (product page) but unfortunately they are sold out.

I’m really into the black plastic style if you couldn’t tell :) I just feel like they’re much more flattering on my face than metal frames.

I’m considering getting fitted for contact lenses soon since I’m bad about wearing my glasses as often as I should. If anyone can recommend some good contacts for beginners, I’d be grateful!

Acuvue Oasys!!! Not just for beginners, but for anybody.

I have very sensitive eyes and any other contact has really been a pain to put in and take off and dry up really quickly. My eyes sting and swell and get all red normally, but not with Oasys. They really are amazing! Plus, I have very long hours, some days I’ll be up and about for over 36 hours and these stay as moist as they can making it easier for me to function on those days.

Thank you!! My other friend recommended that same exact kind. I also have ridiculously sensitive eyes. I can’t even apply liner without my eyes watering its sooo annoying.

Love the Coach glasses & my optometrist sells high end frames too, but I’ve never bought a pair for my prescription glasses – i should do that this year.I do have a pair of Coach sunglasses I got there that I <3. I wear Acuvue Air Optix Night & Day contacts and I keep them in for 12+ hours a day and by the end of the day I sometimes feel like my eyes are dry ( and my eyes aren't typically that way ) so wouldn't really recommend those. I'm thinking about the Acuvue Oasys now that Sarah mentioned them.

I’ve always been so tempted to get a pair of prescription sunnies from my eye doc lol I think the only reason I haven’t is because I’m so hard on them.

Are the Coastal glasses REALLY free? Like are they gonna make me buy anything afterwards, or send me a ridiculous amount of literature? Or are they legit, pay $10 shipping, no strings attached FREE? :)
